Rode upside down

Rode upside down

When the jockey gives his/her mount a bad ride, particularly by riding the horse in a way that doesn't suit its running style.

For example, this could be riding a horse that likes cover up the front of the race with its head facing the breeze.

Alternatively, it would be getting stuck against the rail in the middle of the pack with a horse that likes to be bowling along in fresh air.

"Dead set never trusting that jockey again, he rode my horse upside down the whole trip. I would've done a better job!"
