Exotic Bets

Exotic Bet types are more riskier than the usual win or place bet types but offer punters greater returns as a result. Due to the larger returns that punters can expect from winning exotic bets they typically risk less money to receive a substantial return. Australian bookmakers are continually introducing new exotic bet types. Some of these are special offers which are advertised as part of a racing carnival or special sports event. In addition to these there are a significant number of exotic bet types which punters have available to them at all times.

Duet

Punters win when they select two of the top three finishing horses or greyhounds in a race. A win is awarded regardless of where the two selections finish in the top three places.

Daily Double

Two races are nominated typically on the one race program. Punters have to select the winner in each of the two races selected.

Exacta

The punter must make two selections identifying the runner they think will win the race and the runner that runs second. If they predict the winner and runner-up in order, they win.

First Four

To win, a punter must select the first four place getters in a race in the correct order.

MultiBets

Punters make multiple selections across multiple races or sports events using a specific bet type (e.g. win, place or each-way). Winnings from a bet are then placed on the second selection and so on for each leg of the multibet. If each bet in each event wins the punter receives the total return from the final bet.

Quadrella or Quaddie

Four races are nominated for a quaddie. The punter has to select the winner in each of the four races to win.

Running Double

Punters have to find the winner of two consecutive races on a race program to win.

Trifecta

Punters must select the top three place getters in the correct order to win a Trifecta. The punter can choose to 'box' the Trifecta, in which case they receive all six combinations with their three selections. To win a box Trifecta the horses only need to finish in the top three places in any order.
