Box seat

Box seat

Similar to "one-in one-back", this is where the jockey finds himself in the ideal position in the horse race, usually in third place on the back of the leading pair.

However, unlike one-in one-back, box seating implies that the horse is in plenty of space to peel off the leader's back and make a charge.

"The odds-on favourite is sitting pretty in the box seat- she can't lose."
