Get out of jail

Get out of jail

An expression used by punters to mean that they have had a good win to cover their losses.

Usually heard after the last race on the card, otherwise known as the "Get Out Stakes."

If a punter has been losing his money all day, but bags a decent winner in the last, he got out of jail.

"I can breathe easy again. There's nothing like getting the winner in the last to get out of jail."
