Forgive run

Forgive run

When a horse doesn't run as well as expected, but given a specific circumstance it should be overlooked when considering backing the horse in his/her next race.

This term is typically used in form analysis, under form experts' racing tips.

This is especially the case when a horse finished near the tail of the field- not because of its ability, but because it had no luck in running.

That scenario would be described by form analysts as a forgive run, or simply, forgive.

"Did you hear Tony Brassel's Saturday horse racing tips? He likes that number 10 in the last. He said to forgive the previous run, where he suffered interference around the home turn."
