After making it 8 winning weeks from the past 9 with Desert Lightning saluting at $5.00, I'm looking to keep the momentum going with a couple of strong bets at Flemington.
One runner comes in with outstanding form, and the other looks perfectly placed to dominate after a strong first-up effort in tougher company.
You can find the rest of the Flemington tips and more in my tip package below.
Cody Lane continues to find value amongst his best bets.
Flemington Race 5 #4 First Settler $3.70
First Settler, a promising 3yo colt from the Price & Kent Jnr stable is great value at $3.70.
After kicking off his career with two impressive wins, he nearly upset Growing Empire last start at this track and distance.
That run has since been boosted with Growing Empire going within a nose of winning the Group 1 Manikato Stakes last Friday, solidifying First Settler's credentials.
Although Bodyguard looms as a danger off the back of a sharp trial, First Settler has the race fitness edge and I’m confident he can prove too tough to beat.
He draws well, relishes wet conditions and with Mick Dee retaining the ride, he looks primed for a strong performance.
Flemington Race 10 #4 Skybird $4.20
I'm highly excited about Skybird's chances here.
The 4yo mare from the Mitchell Freedman stable was outstanding first-up when finishing a narrow second to the talented Arkansaw Kid in the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis on a Heavy track.
That form should hold up well, and she’s perfectly placed dropping back in class to face her own sex.
Skybird has a flawless second-up record (2 from 2) and will relish the step up to 1400m.
With her sights set on bigger races this Spring, she has the class edge over this field and should prove too strong.
She’s a Group 1 horse in the making, and I’m confident she’ll take care of this field.
