Our look at David Gately's early oil for the Spring Carnival features continues with some of the highlight races at the back-end of the program.
This time we'll take a glance at Gator's selections and thoughts for the Coolmore Stud Stakes on Derby Day.
Australia's premier sprint race for three-year-olds, the Coolmore Stud Stakes is always one of the genuine highlights of the four-day Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Let's see what David Gately says about the race...
SWORD OF STATE
Kiwi 3YO who has put up some exceptional performances to the eye and these have well and truly been backed-up on the clock. Trialled well under a hold at home recently, then unlucky in first Australian start.
Looks good target race and perhaps the early value in it?
PROFITEER
No doubting his immense talent but just brought himself undone at elite level last prep as 2yo. If he can harness that huge motor… Look out!
ENTHAAR
In similar boat to Profiteer in that there is a huge motor in there but she just has to harness that energy better. In right yard to keep improving/learning.
May be pick of the fillies?
