The rain has come and hopefully, it has gone.
We return to Rosehill once again this Saturday, as the rescheduled Golden Slipper Day serves up another Group 1 feast.
The main event is well supported by four Group 1's, as well as three Group 3's and a Listed race.
The Rosehill Guineas has a new look with 4 additions to the original field of 11, whilst the Ranvet Stakes sees 4 more runners engaged which will see 9 line-up at the barriers.
For the latest insight into how the Rosehill track is expected to play, read our preview of the Golden Slipper here.
The Map
There are now 9 horses contesting this year's Ranvet Stakes.
Addeybb (5) loves to sit in the lead or on-pace, so expect him to stride forward to contest for the front.
Master of Wine (8) and Verry Elleegant (1) are the ones who will settle behind this pair, with Nettoyer (4) to bring up the rear of the field.
The Favourite
Addeybb ($2.10) returns to Australian shores for the first time since the Queen Elizabeth last year.
The son of Pivotal proved last year that he can travel overseas and perform well first-up, winning this race by under a length before winning the Queen Elizabeth Stakes by 3 lengths.
Since then, he travelled back to England where he has since raced three times for two wins and a second.
Tom Marquand has once again made the trip over to partner him and the stable has reported that he is good and ready to go first-up into this race.
Despite the extra couple of runners in this race now, he is still drawn well to get an easy time of it in front and he will be able to go along at his own pace.
I don't have any doubt that Verry Elleegant is going well, but the ratings Addeybb ran last time at this track still rate better than anything the gun mare has faced since they last met.
Analysis and Tips
Addeybb ($2.10) is my pick for this race and it will undoubtedly be an unpopular opinion for those who like Verry Elleegant.
For everything I have discussed above, I expect him to drift in the market and for us to cash in on it.
The Map
There are now 15 horses contesting this year's Rosehill Guineas and there looks to be only moderate pace on paper.
Here to Shock (14) looks the one to head forward from the wide gate and I expect Kobestar (7) to apply early pressure.
From the inside draw, The Elanora (2) has a chance to get into a better position in the run than last start.
Expect Lunar Fox (11) and Lion's Roar (12) to find a midfield position from their wide draws.
Khoekhoe (4) will likely sit towards the rear and you can expect him to sit outside the lone filly of the race, Montefilia (10).
Look for race favourite Mo'unga to also settle at the tail of the field.
The Favourite
There is no surprise that Mo'unga ($3.00) is the early favourite after his last start performance in the Randwick Guineas.
He settled worse than midfield on the rail throughout the run, which wasn't ideal as he was met with a wall in the straight.
Tommy Berry opted to bring him to the outside, but by that time Lion's Roar steamed past him and it was all over.
The Savabeel colt has to settle for second and the punters were thinking about what could have been, had the gaps appeared.
The draw he has received this time around is brilliant, as he has the chance to sit off the rail which will provide him with a better run throughout.
He will eat up the 2000m and being out of Savabeel, the wet conditions should suit.
Analysis and Tips
Mo'unga ($3.00) is on top for all the reasons above.
The Elanora ($21.00) is the other I will be betting on at an each-way price. The track conditions won't worry him and he is drawn to get a much better run than last start.
He's nearing peak fitness and is screaming out for the 2000m.
