This week’s early betting has been robust at both key venues with punters out in force, snapping up the perceived early value on a mammoth Group 1 day.
At Moonee Valley James McDonald appears to hold the key to several well-backed runners, where punters are keen to support his chances at the early prices.
Whilst at Randwick a lightly race mare with Bella Nipotina form is coming out of a high-profile Group 1 last start.

Pisces
Betting moves for the Godolphin horse are typically on the mark and this is likely to again be the case here.
The J Mac booking also adds confidence as he is almost certain to have had the pick of a few of these.
He has been readied with two solid trial hit-outs and does enough first-up (2:1-0-0) to suggest he will be ready to fire, with intent to be shown.
Savagery Vibe
The stable pulled off one of the biggest plunges of the year at Geelong on Wednesday when backing one from $81 into $12 to get the cash.
They love a bet and when they do are rarely wrong.
I expect that to be the case here with this runner who should be flying at home.
There was a lack of intent shown at Flemington last start when he finished a mid-field 6 of 10 over 1100m, and he looks suited by the step up to 1200m now.
Extratwo
She has a touch of class and a win here would be very deserving after racing well all prep.
She had genuine excuses last start when was forced to sit wide throughout and entitled to tire late.
From a low draw here (gate 1) expect she has every chance with a hungry J Mac keen for redemption after the poor steer last start.
Can atone.
Firm Agreement
Interesting runner who arrives from Sydney and has attracted the attention of leading Melbourne rider Blake Shinn.
He must be doing well for the stable to have secured the booking, and he wasn’t far off the top 3yo’s in the Gloaming including the smart El Castello and Swiftfalcon
They would not have been out of place in the G1 Spring Champion at Randwick however have opted for a much easier assignment here.
He looks very hard to beat.
Henlein
Simply raced too far back last start when never a hope from that position to reel in the smart El Castello.
Although not suited by the race-shape last time out at Rosehill, he looks far better suited now on the big track at Randwick with more time to stoke up.
I would expect from the low draw (gate 1) on this occasion Tommy will be riding the horse much closer and that should make all the difference.
Roll On High
Lightly raced (11:3-2-0) 4yo mare who must be showing the Moody yard plenty at home to be aimed up at a Group 1 Tatts Tiara to round out last preparation.
Although well beaten when finishing 5 of 17 in the hot Group 1 race, she was 5.7 lengths on Everest champion Bella Nipotina which is no doubt good form for this.
Provided she is forward enough in condition for the first-up (2:0-1-0) assignment expect she will be in the finish.
The yard report looks vital.
Strait Acer
Unwanted in betting ($61) first up in the Allan Brown, however did run well when chasing hard to finish 8 of 12 and only beaten 3 lengths.
The stable never give up and also have the smart El Castello in the feature on the day, hence could be in for a much-needed big day.
From gate 2 they should receive a very economical run midfield and towing into it, where provided the breaks come he can make his presence felt.
Communist
Is from the gun stable who do know how to set one up and tend to bet when they know a horse is going well.
He is a Group 1 winner and finally managed to receive some weight relief last start which has continued here.
He appears to be back in the right grade of race and will be suited by the lack of quality here.
