Best plays for Grafton
Grafton plays hosts a tough seven race card on Tuesday, with plenty of value up for grabs for punters.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and fine weather is forecast for the north coast of NSW.
The rail is out 4.5m and at this set-up, expect on-pace runners to hold the key.
From the stewards
The horse worth keeping an eye on from the steward's report is Helmet Head, running around in race 1.
The Matthew Dunn trained galloper ran an admirable third last start at this track, but did have excuses.
He began awkwardly in that clash before pulling his way onto heels at the 1300m mark. He then raced wide without cover, before being asked to go forward and lead near the 800m.
The torrid run took its toll late, as the gelding laid out rounding the home turn and in the straight.
A much more decisive ride from barrier 3 should see a big improvement today.
Grafton Race 5 Tip #1 Moringa's Amordoro $5.00
The five-year-old son of El Nino impressed with a strong 2.5 length win on debut at this track.
He showed good speed over 1006m to lead, before racing green on turning for home. Once jockey Raymond Spokes got his mind on the job, he put a good gap on his rivals.
The margin to third was 5.12 lengths, suggesting the win was strong. Runner-up Sagacious has since come out and broken his maiden in fine style, franking these form-lines.
Moringa's Amordoro looked to have plenty left up his sleeve on debut, so I'd expect an even more impressive performance when asked for an extra effort.
There is no doubt he'll take further improvement into this second-up clash from both a physical and mental perspective.
From barrier 6, he has the speed to cross and lead these up. Raymond Spokes retains the ride and looks set to make every post a winner!
