Mick's Saturday Specials
Racing heads back to Randwick this Saturday with the track expected to sit in the Good to Soft range, and the rail out 6 metres.
With fine weather in the lead-up, we’re expecting a fair surface, though momentum and wide lanes could become key later in the day as wear sets in.
Mick Gannon has two strong plays on the card, with both bringing peak setups, map favours and market support.
Look for smart tactics and solid fitness edges to come into play.

Race 5 – #3 Federer $3.60
Third-up, 1800m, senior rider engaged. It's go time.
Federer was terrific second-up when jumping from 1400m to 1800m, sticking on gamely despite racing against the pattern of the day.
He was beaten under a length and now with added fitness, he’s ready to explode.
Crucially Jason Collett takes the ride, a move that signals clear intent from the stable.
From a tactical perspective, he maps well to land just off speed and pounce when it matters.
With early money coming and a rated price of $3.30, he looks the one to beat.
Race 3 – #10 Callistemon $3.00
Dominant last start in Midway grade over the mile, Callistemon steps up in class but not in difficulty.
Despite carrying an extra 2kg, her previous win was full of merit as she raced against the pattern and still put a gap on them.
This time, the race shape looks perfect with plenty of tempo up front.
Look for Collett to settle midfield with cover and produce a booming run down the centre of the track.
At a rated price of $2.65, she holds a class edge and should be going back-to-back.
