Caulfield best bets and preview

Caulfield is currently rated a Good 4 for Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes day, with the rail out 3m the entire circuit.

With light showers forecast, the track looks likely to start a Soft 5.

At that set-up, the track should play fair allowing all runners their chance.

Mark has generated 14% profit on turnover from 51 tips over the last 90-days. Below are three of his top selections for Caulfield.

Horse Racing Tips

Caulfield Race 5 Ladbrokes How Now Stakes 1200m (Group 3)

Pippie (7) will push forward and lead, with Diamond Effort (2) sitting just off her.

Tofane (1) and Dawn Dawn (3) look likely to take a sit one pair behind them.

Pippie has been dominant in her last two victories. The form from her last win was franked by the runner-up Spanish Whisper, who went on to win the Group Two Let's Elope last Saturday at Flemington.

Lool for the mare to dictate the speed of the race, before using her enormous motor on the turn to propel her to a second Group Three win in as many starts.

Dawn Dawn has drawn to get a great run just behind the leaders. This is a rise in grade, but her second-up win was strong and she has upside.

Tofane could not have been more impressive last start, beating the consistent Haut Brion Her. She goes up in weight, but has drawn to do no work and can run a place.

Horse Racing Tip  Mark's Race 5 Tips

1st Pippie

2nd Dawn Dawn

3rd Tofane

Caulfield Race 6 East Malvern Bendigo Bank MRC Foundation 2000m (Group 3)

Wolfe (4) will be marked urgent from the good draw, with Valac (15) likely to roll forward and sit second.

From the inside lanes, So You Win (3) and Super Titus (2) can sit handy in the run.

Sikandarabad has run good time at his previous two runs. He got too far back at his last start, finishing 3.4 lengths behind Homesman at The Valley.

From barrier six, Michael Dee should get the run of the race to sit mid-field with cover. Dee will then be perfectly positioned to make a sustained run from the 300m mark and prove too good.

Steel Prince is being trained for longer distances, but his first-up run at Caulfield over the 1700m trip was the run of the day. He's the clear second pick here.

Etymology came out of the same race as Steel Prince first-up, running a nice third behind Super Titus. He only needs to repeat that performance to be in the mix again and is my third pick.

Horse Racing Tip  Mark's Race 5 Tips

1st Sikandarabad

2nd Steel Prince

3rd Etymology

Caulfield Race 7 Ladbrokes Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes 1400m (Group 1)

Plenty of speed here, with Begood Toya Mother (3) and Age Of Chivalry (1) both drawing well.

They'll both fight for the lead, with Streets of Avalon (4), Cliff’s Edge (6) and Despatch (9) all likely to apply pressure from out wide.

So Si Bon has been somewhat of an enigma throughout his career, but gets his chance for Group One success coming off two brilliant starts this campaign.

Two starts back he won the Group Three Aurie’s Star at Flemington, then followed this up with a gallant second placing behind Scales Of Justice in the Group One Memsie Stakes.

From barrier seven here, Jamie Kah should get the perfect run mid-field with cover and use So Si Bon’s enormous finish to run over the leaders late.

Begood Toya Mother drops an enormous 7kgs on her last start sixth in the Memsie and is the clear second pick.

Amphitrite was superb first-up, running very fast time and will benefited by the 5kg weight relief. From barrier eight, she will sit mid-field and make her rum with So Si Bon.

Horse Racing Tip  Mark's Race 7 Tips

1st So Si Bon

2nd Begood Toya Mother

3rd Amphitrite
