The Memsie Stakes, is a Group One Australian horse race run at Caulfield Racecourse over 1,400 metres and under weight-for-age conditions. Australian punters usually use this race as a milestone that indicates that the start of spring racing is upon us. It is typically the first Group One of the Spring Carnival, and in 2018 it will be held on the first official day of spring, September 1st.

The race tends to include a mix of class horses, who use this race as part of their preparation for longer feature races later in the Spring and lower rated horses who focus on middle distances and are specifically targeting races like the Memsie Stakes.

A Group One race since 2013 and now boasting a prize purse of one million dollars, the Memsie Stakes has become a lucrative and desirable race to win. Several classy horses have been first past the post over the years, with mares in particular having a good time of it.

The Memsie winners list includes some outright champions of the turf. So You Think, Makybe Diva and Sunline to name just a few.

The Memsie Stakes has also been a race where favourites seem to dominate, especially of late. The race favourite has won the race every year since 2012, barring 2014 when Dissident got the job done for trainer Peter Moody.
