Best plays on Mornington Cup Day
Melbourne racing heads to Mornington this Saturday, with two Listed events scheduled on the nine-race card.
The stayers will be fighting it out over the 2400m in the feature Mornington Cup, whilst sparks will fly in the Hareeba Stakes over 1200m for the sprinters.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with fine weather predicted down on the peninsula, participants will be met with a fine racing surface.
With the rail in the true position, the track should play fairly for all runners.

Mornington Race 1 Tip #4 Albukhturi $5.50
The bookies have opened this Hayes/Dabernig trained galloper at generous odds.
He drops in grade for this run after a good effort in the Group Two VRC Sires at Flemington.
The colt got back to last on that occasion, before running on soundly down the outside of the field and producing the fastest last 600m sectional of the entire race.
He arrives here third-up nearing peak fitness and will relish the dry track over 1500m.
He's likely to settle last in the run again here, but in the small field of seven he'll be well within striking distance.
His sectionals are far better than any of his rivals and the stage looks set for him to swoop down the outside and win.
Mornington Race 6 Tip #8 Chuck A Luck $5.00
I've identified this former NZ three-year-old as the horse to beat in the Mornington Guineas.
He's been freshened for this off his Australian debut, where he ran a solid third beaten under half a length.
That day he was forced to do it the hard way, racing three-wide without cover from the 800m mark. After looking gone at the top of the straight, he fought back doggedly to run well through the line.
He has form at the mile, including a strong sixth behind Catalyst at Group One level. This suggests that the rise in distance here will suit.
From barrier four he maps to get a lovely trail midfield and with the in-form Jye Mcneil booked to ride, he should get every possible chance.
