Best plays for night racing at The Valley
Moonee Valley plays host to a competitive eight race card under lights on Friday, with plenty of value on offer in what looks to be a tough card.
With warm weather and minimal rain forecast across Melbourne, expect racing to enter the Good 3 range and slick times to be run.
The rail is out 5m, so expect those who are drawn in and can sit on the speed to hold an advantage given they can dictate upfront and kick away off the bend into the short straight.
Moonee Valley Tips from Jackson Frantz
Moonee Valley Race 1 Tip #1 Ilovethegame $5.50
Keen to kick things off from the get-go with an each way play on the talented half brother to expensive Hong Kong export Ilovemyself.
This gelding was impressive in his first campaign as a late season two-year-old, boasting a strong debut victory at Sandown over 1000m when well supported in betting.
He then ran impressively down the Flemington straight over 1200m in a strong Saturday race behind the highly touted Sense Of Honour and Savannah Cloud.
He’s since trained on well and is forward enough for this first-up affair, after clocking fast time when finishing second under a hold in a recent jump out.
He can take up the running from barrier 3 and will prove hard to chase down with Oliver rating him perfectly out in front.
Moonee Valley Race 5 Tip #2 Condo’s Express $4.10
I'm happy to make the speedy track specialist from the Richard Laming yard an each way play in the 955m sprint.
I thought his run on Manikato night at this track/trip behind the talented Sartorial Splendour was super impressive.
In that clash, he flashed home from the rear in fast time and came off heels at a key stage in the straight to finish only 0.2 length into second.
With clear air he wins that race and despite the troubled run, he managed to finish ahead of quality sprinter Human Nature and black type winner Tony Nicconi.
He presents here three weeks between runs, but is rock hard fit and finds far weaker opposition than last time out.
While he’s set to lump 62.5kgs, he’s clearly got this field's measure for class. Expect Jamie Kah to give him every chance by pressing forward from the midfield draw, to settle in the first four with cover.
From there, he will be perfectly place to kick away in the straight.
