Who made the most cash in October from their bets?
There is no better time to be firing on the punt than the Spring. With so much racing on at the moment, punters stand to gain significant benefit by following sharp punters ahead of any other time in the year. As we approach the biggest week of the carnival -
- Victoria Derby day on Saturday,
- the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday,
- Oaks Day on Thursday and
- the Emirates Stakes on the following Saturday....
...we reveal the biggest winners in October.
The profits were massive last month from both punters and members of Australia's racing media in arguably the toughtest period on the punt in some time - $51 pop won the Caulfield Cup (Boom Time) and the Caulfield Guineas winner paid $101 (Mighty Boss).
Highest Profit on Turnover
We measure monthly returns from bets as a percentage of the total money outlayed on bets during the month assuming an even stake for each selection. This measure is called Profit On Turnover (POT).
The punter who achieved the highest POT in October with at least 15 bets placed was a 29 year old Tasmania Sammy7. The Taswegian propelled his profitability well into triple figures after having a massive Caulfield Cup day where he backed three winners including Boom Time. By the end of the month he had placed 19 bets and finished with an enviable 185% POT.
Veteran racing journalist Craig Mordey from the Sydney Morning Herald was runner-up bagging 8 winners from 23 best bets published in the Fairfax newspaper for 77% POT. With winners averaging $5.09 he gave his followers a huge push towards profitability in the second month of spring.
Gun NewsCorp racing analyst and journalist Brad Davidson found no less than 46 winners from 112 best bets over the period delivering his followers 56% POT. Both Davidson and Mordey do their form as far out as 72 hours before race time in order for them to meet editorial deadlines. It's a significant handicap considering that most of their competition get the benefit of vital track and market information on race day morning before posting their tips.
Highest Cash Profit
Geelong punter FordCat17 made a motza in October. Placing over 20 bets per day he finished up backing 58 winners which together averaged $13.73 for the win. Punters following the experienced analyst with $100 wagers finished the month with a massive $16,630 extra in their betting account.
Brad Davidson was runner up in this category too with his 56% POT delivering $100 punters a cool $6,420 profit. Not bad for free tips.
Victorian punter Capposki came in third place with $4,040 profit from 34 winners at average odds of $6.36.
All these punters appear in Australia's only racing tip market that includes selections and bets from the racing media and punters, side-by-side on one page.
