This week's edition of Lays of the Day focusses on two horses across Sydney and Melbourne who face uphill battles.
A previously touted Everest contender has come up at rock bottom odds in the "Get Out Stakes" at Rosehill and has the potential to blow-up every mug multi around the country.
At Caulfield, Lewis is steering punters away from a horse which looks under-done and should be double her current quote.
Rosehill Race 9 #5 Masked Crusader $1.85
Reasoning: Distance, Barrier manners
This horse was touted as a possible Everest contender, but hasn't lived up to that hype so far this prep.
His first-up run on a Heavy track was solid behind Varda. That effort saw him go up $1.95 favourite second-up, where he was caught wide-throughout the trip and finished 1 length back in third.
He was there to win that day and there is no doubt that run would have taken its toll.
He's now being asked to step up 300m and produce a performance that would see him head towards a new target, the Golden Eagle.
Barrier 2 is a real concern given he's been slow out of the gates on previous occasions and if he misses the jump here, he'll be in real strife.
There is real scope for him starting a $2.50 shot and at the current quote of $1.85, he is a LAY!
Caulfield Race 1 #9 Kalkarni Royale $4.80
Reasoning: Fitness, Speed Map
Keen to be against Kalkarni Royale who looks way too short at the $4.80 quote available with most corporate bookmakers.
She comes here first-up at what is going to be a fairly wet track, and has only had the one jump out leading in to this run.
Although she won the jump out, the mare was pushed hard and the horses that finished behind her would be going around at $101 if they were in this race.
Barrier two doesn't look to be suitable and she may be caught in the worst going if she ends up on the fence, or stuck somewhere towards the inside.
A lack of race fitness is also a concern, with most of her rivals here having a run or two under their belt this prep.
I would need close to double her price to be interested.
