The sunny weather in Sydney didn't last too long.
Fans of Sydney racing are once again looking down the barrell of a Heavy track surface.
The rail is out 8m. It was 6m here last meeting and it was hard to make any genuine ground.
With a wet track and the current rail position, those on-pace will not be disadvantaged.
Rosehill Race 2 #8 De An Andretti $3.90
This highly promising filly is the full sister to the late Libertini, who we know was a star sprinter.
De An Andretti has only had the two starts on race day but has always shown a stack of ability at the trials and race day.
Last start, she was backed off the map in the Group 2 Furious stakes but had excuses for her poor performance. She was tipped straight out for a spell and given more time to physically mature.
That event was won by Jamaea who has gone on to frank that form. The likes of Yearning, Najmaty have also stacked up very well.
She comes back to Saturday racing off the back of two smart trials.
The latest was the pick of them over 780m, unleashing her turn-off foot to put stakes winner Kallos away with ease.
The 1300m is the slight query first up off two trials under 1000m. She has drawn a lovely gate also and should find herself close enough to the speed.
She’s got bigger races in her than this.
Rosehill Race 1 #9 Well In Sight $6.50
This talented filly improved with each run when kicking off her career.
She won three on the trot in impressive fashion before being thrown in the deep end, down the Flemington straight.
She was against A-grade opposition on that occasion and was found wanting late after burning the candle early.
It will pay to forgive that run as she was at the end of a long prep and on a 7-day backup.
She was tipped straight out for a spell and has returned in super order, running 2nd to classy galloper Sunrise Ruby in a recent Albury trial.
She generally pings the gates, so from the kind barrier she can land on speed for the gun run.
She handles all conditions, so the predicted rain is of little concern and at the current quote she’s a great bet.
Rosehill Race 9 #11 Irish Legend $7.50
This 4YO gelding was brilliant first up in Australia after two solid trials.
He jumped well from an inside barrier to be cruising inside runners.
The race was panning out brilliantly for him until the 800m mark, where he had to steady off heels and lost a few lengths.
He was flushed out the back of the field and given no hope of winning the race from there.
He picked up the bit well in the straight and charged through the line after taking some narrow runs.
The Sea The Stars bred galloper will be primed to strike on the expected Heavy conditions this weekend and once again draws soft in barrier 2.
He has a brilliant record second up overseas with two wins from two attempts and can add to his tally this weekend.
He has come up with a great price to find out just how talented he is.
