Gosford hosts a competitive Thursday meeting with plenty of talented provincial horses looking to put their best foot forward.
Luke Hovhanesian has done the form and found two picks that look hard to go past.
Get amongst the action below.
Race 3 #2 Encroachment $3.40
I was hoping we would get a better price for this 3YO Gelding.
He has trialled well leading into this race but comes up against a decent maiden field, plus draws poorly.
In saying this, I believe he is the most talented horse in this line up and the booking of Rachel King adds confidence.
From barrier 10 they will need to be positive and put the handlebars down to cross.
If he can get across without exerting too much energy he will be very hard to catch.
The Matt Smith camp often get them primed to strike first up but look for a late drift out to $4 before chiming in.
Race 7 #3 Baranof $9.00
Even with deductions, you would be praying to the gods if you snapped up the $34 opening price for this 4YO gelding.
He has been such a hard horse to catch over his career with poor barrier manners and unlucky runs.
In saying that, he meets a moderate field who are largely exposed on talent, besides the favourite.
His most consistent runs have come fresh and he lands here off just the one trial.
He will get back in the field, but from barrier 6 will get a cosy run throughout.
His turn of foot matches it with any of the horses here and he looks a great value bet towards the end of the card.
