How good was Slipper weekend!
We return to Rosehill for the final time before The Championships, for Stakes Day.
The rail is out 5m from the 1400m to the winning post and 4m for the remainder.
The last time they raced at Rosehill with this set up, it played towards those on pace.
Rosehill Race 9 #13 Gravina $3.70
There is a lot to love about the set up this gelded 4YO gets this weekend.
First up he was dominant on a rain affected track, spanking his rivals by 1.75 lengths.
In second place was Taksu who has since produced a strong win, additionally he lines up as favourite in the last race on the card.
Second up, in Group 3 company, he wasn't far off Shelby Sixty Six. That runner has now gone onto Group 1 success franking the formlines even further.
This weekend he gets his beloved Soft/Heavy track and remains at 53kg.
Jockey Kerrin McEvoy knows the horse well, riding him previously last campaign.
From the middle draw look for him to slide forward in the moving line to sit around midfield.
Kerrin can often be an aggressive rider making early moves and I believe this will be perfect for this gelding.
He can often switch off in races and only respond to riding late in the piece. An early shake up can have him right in the mood to charge down the centre of the track.
Looks brilliant value at $3.70 and can see him starting much shorter come raceday.
Rosehill Race 2 #2 Boyfriend $4.50
Was impressive against track pattern last start and will relish 1400m.
Found one better that time, that horse was Sejardan who started $9 in the Golden Slipper.
Sejardan was desperately unlucky and could have run top 4 with even luck.
That looks the right formline for this race.
Boyfriend gets blinkers on for the first time, gets an infrom Brenton Avdulla to ride and has enough early speed to roll forward from barrier 11.
Now 4th up, he's reach peaked fitness and is ready to produce a career peak.
Rosehill Race 4 #3 Character $6.00
Character comes through the G2 Phar Lap stakes where he did a great job in a sit and sprint race.
They went very slow in that but he was still able to run strong sectionals late up on speed.
His last 600m and last 200m were the 2nd best on the meeting.
The step up now to 2000m suits after a good base of 2 runs. He has drawn well and will sit handy enough..
We know he handles the wet and gets Berry in the saddle.
He has come back a much better horse this prep and is set to peak here 3rd up.
