These on/off showers are causing chaos to punters form.
With the weather becoming more stable before the weekend, an improving surface will face competitors, likely heading towards the Soft category.
The featured event of the day is the Golden Slipper with Coolangatta a red hot favourite.
There are a further 4 group 1 events amongst a day full of group racing.
The rail is out 2m for the entire circuit.
The last time they raced at Rosehill with this set up, it played fair with all runners getting their chance.
Rosehill Race 4 #2 Harmony Rose $5.50
Forgive the first up run, over the unsuited 1400m, when pressured both to her inside and outside.
She over-raced and when was asked for an effort, tapered out over the 1400m.
She is clearly travelling better than that first up run suggests, with a three week let up straight into a 1900m Group 3 event.
The smart mare draws her favoured position of barrier 1 and remains down in the weights.
Going back two preparations, she was 0.2 lengths off Hungry Heart in the Group 1 Vinery Stud over 2000m.
She entered that contest with the same set up, a shorter distance run, let up, then targeted at a middle distance Group race.
The improving track plays right into her hands and she will lead these up for fun.
Favourite Le Lude is flying at the moment, but has a number of notable factors against her:
At the current prices I will be backing Harmony Rose and if Le Lude drifts to $4.50+ can entertain a dual play.
Rosehill 3#5 Zeyrek $4.00
Was solid first up over 1400m, before jumping out of the ground second up over 2000m.
He went forward and did a bit of early work, but managed to put away a classy group of gallopers.
The 2.5 length win was dominant and it’s difficult to see him regressing off that run.
With stats of 5:2-1-1 over the 2400m, punters can bet with confidence he’ll enjoy the extra 400m on Saturday.
Willie Pike retains the ride and from barrier 10, he’ll land on speed and make his own luck.
Looks the bet of the day!
Rosehill Race 2 #5 Bacchanalia $5.50
Bacchanalia resumes here off a very nice prep, finishing with a win in the Gosford Guineas.
He handles all conditions and looks well suited for this race.
He has come back off the one soft trial on the synthetic, where he closed very sharply back to the inside.
I like his form lines from last prep beating King Of Sparta and Dragonstone, which stacks up very strongly here.
He has drawn a touch sticky but will roll forward which is key.
He will be off rails and has Nash aboard, who is riding in outstanding form.
Great chance at nice odds.
