We head west to Cowra tomorrow for a strong card of country racing.
The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail in the true position.
Below are my three best bets on what looks a competitive meeting.
Cowra Race 2 #13 Orreza $2.80
She produced a career peak last start and looks set to break her maiden against a weak field today.
The obvious query is the rise to 1200m, but she'll make his own luck in front and the short Cowra straight will suit.
Now third-up, she'll be fit and ready to fire today and with JVO booked to ride, I expect a big performance.
Cowra Race 3 #3 Expect A Hero $4.80
This talented gelding has lined up at this track and distance twice for two seconds.
He's drawn perfectly in barrier 2 and gets a 1.5kg claim for talented apprentice Jackson Searle.
From the soft draw, he'll find the rail and will likely the lead. If something takes him on, he'll get the perfect trail, either way he'll get every opportunity in the run.
There's not much depth to this race and I suspect Expect A hero to come out on top.
Cowra Race 5 #8 Almahero $2.40
This son of Al Maher impressed to break his maiden first-up and if he can repeat that run, he'll make it two from three wins for this prep.
He was luckless second-up over 1400m at Nowra and could have easily figured in the finish with even luck.
He retains the services of Matt Cahill who rides winners for fun and from the soft draw in barrier 5, he'll sit midfield with cover.
This 3YO has a stack of upside compared to his older rivals and I think we'll see him shine in this race.
