It was the punters who drew first blood in 2020, dominating the podiums for most cash profit and highest POT.
That's not to say that the media experts weren't represented.
A Best Bets form analyst had a terrific month, finding himself agonisngly close to taking out the top spot for highest cash profit.
Discover who it was, as well as all of January's other top performers below.
The gold medalist for January was none other than Turfcutter.
Hasn't this bloke already won enough by now?
That's what some will be thinking, but for Turfcutter, another mention is just credit to his outstanding record as a professional punter.
This month he raked in $4,833 in cash profit from $100 win bets, after seeing no less than 198 of his tips greet the judge.
This Wagga Wagga local has tipped on theGreatTipOff.com since November 2014 and he's now amassed in excess of $25K cash profit over this time.
What an effort.

Falling just short of the gold was Best Bets form analyst Joel Marshall.
In January this media expert proved he really was that. An expert.
He found 36 winners, at a cracking average price of $4.80.
This generated a cash profit of $4,580, which you could've shared in if you followed all of Marshall's tips with $100 bets.
Best Bets sales will go through the roof if Marshall continues to tip like this in the coming weeks.
The bronze medal for cash profit went to pro punter Leumas.
This Gold Coast resident used all of his local knowledge to good effect during the Magic Millions meet.
He bagged 3 winners on the day, including 40/1 shot Away game in the 2YO feature race.

All in all, Leumas had 17 winners in January, returning a cash profit of $4,090 from $100 win bets.
And with a 77% POT, he just missed out on the profit on turnover podium.
Nevertheless, it was a cracking month for this Queenslander.
Methoman has done it again!
He made it two golds in as many months after he claimed the top gong in December.
This Sydneysider really is in a purple patch at the moment.
He's sitting on a cash profit of $3,110 from $100 win bets over the past 90 days.
But it's his POT that we're interested in here.
In January, he finished on 120% after 3 of his 30 tips got home at an average price of $22.
That's some quality tipping.
Securing the silver was punter Reuben2019.
This West Australian only joined the site late last year, but since then he has made a splash.
In January, he found 6 winners from 21 selections, returning a bumper 111% POT.
His standout tip for the month was Lord Von Costa, who booted home at 30/1 odds at Flemington on the 18th.
Hopefully there's plenty more where that came from for Reuben2019.

Rounding out the podium was pro punter Humps64.
He finished up with a 107% POT, after 9 of his tips saluted.
Considering that the average price of these winners was $5.74 and his strike rate exceeded 33%, Humps64 more than deserves his spot on the podium.
The Queenslander will be looking to extend his fine form into February.
