The Magic Millions Classic is the first feature race of the calendar year. While not technically a Group One, the race always attracts plenty of interest, with punters and racing fans keen to see some of the best young fillies and colts do battle.

What makes the Magic Millions Classic unique is that it is only open to two-year-olds that were bought in a Magic Millions auction. While this limits the amount of horses that are eligible, the race is never wanting on standard of horse.

In other words, the horse that wins the Magic Millions Classic tends to be a good one. Recent winners Sunlight, Houtzen and Capitalist have all had success since their triumphs in the Magic Millions Classic.

The Magic Millions Classic is also regarded as one of the best form lines for the Golden Slipper. Capitalist did the double in 2016, while Sunlight placed in the 2018 Slipper after dominating the 2018 Magic Millions.

Despite being the feature race, the Magic Millions Classic is by no means the only highlight race on the day. The prize money of all the day's events exceeds ten million dollars, providing an indication of the standard of racing that takes place.

The Magic Millions Classic is also a favourite amongst punters, as it's a race where the favourites do well. In fact, 7 of the previous 8 winners have started at odds of $5 or less.
