Geelong Race 1 Tip #4 Wilsdorf $6.50
I thought this Lindsay Smith trained gelding ran well first-up at Warrnambool when running second behind Vitosha. That galloper has always shown ability and was given a picnic in front.
Wilsdorf just couldn't match motors with the winner that day, but I thought he worked through the line well enough and will undoubtedly taken plenty of benefit from the run.
He strips fitter second-up and maps perfectly from barrier 4.
Gosford Race 5 Tip #2 Gunaluva $3.80
I'm sticking with the Sergeant trained stayer here in what looks a very winnable race stepping out to the 2600m.
The 4YO son of Reliable Man is a model of consistency, having only missed the placings once in his past seven starts.
Two starts back he was a dominant winner over 2300m at Newcastle on Boxing Day, racing away from his rivals to score a very easy victory.
It is important to note that he meets danger Yuralla Boy 0.5kg better at the weights from that run.
Put a line through his effort last time out when he was caught wide the entire trip over 2400m, but stuck on to only be beaten 2.6 lengths.
He gets back to 2600m (2:1:0:0) on a firm Gosford track where he has won before, plus regular rider Keagan Latham goes back aboard.
From the good gate, he will get the run of the race in behind the speed and looks to have superior staying qualities.
