Tamworth Race 1 #8 Gulf Of Odessa $12.00
This former Chris Waller trained galloper took a huge step forward towards breaking his maiden last start.
After being hampered at the start, he was restrained to the rear of the field behind a moderate tempo.
His closing sectionals were quite strong and the way he finished off suggests he's ready to break through under the right set up.
Today looks his day, he's drawn ideally in barrier 3 and maps for the run of the race behind a solid tempo.
The $12 looks massive overs for a horse with a stack of upside.
Tamworth Race 7 #12 Memoria $2.10
This filly was very impressive winning on debut, before running a very strong 2nd at his second career start.
On that occasion, she ran the talented Polylthic to half a length. That was over 1000m and her effort through the line suggests she will relish the the rise to 1200m.
From barrier 5, she maps to land two to three pairs back in the running line, before peeling off them and charging after the leaders.
She looks a talented type who can progress through the grades.
Moruya Race 1 #5 Flying Cathay $4.00
This Flying Artie mare was slowly away on debut before doing her best work late running 2nd behind the talented Cholante.
The margin was 4.3L which was probably a fair representation of the difference between the two horses on the day.
It's worth noting that Cholante was a subsequent winner at Wyong, winning under minimal riding at her next start.
Further franking that form, the 3rd placed Belriah was huge on Saturday at Kembla, running 2nd with a big gap to third.
She draws barrier 4 today, retains Robin Freeman and looks very well suited stepping up to the 1200m.
Moruya Race 4 #7 Howgoodisvegas $6.50
This mare returns home where she's a winner at this track and distance.
With minimal early speed predicted, she's found a race that she can dominate from the front.
She's a proven winner off a 30-day back up, at this exact track set up which fills me with confidence.
The $6.50 is a great bet in what looks a winnable race.
