Race Fitness Lacking
This week we are keen to take on a hype horse who arrives fresh for his first up assignment at Flemington.
Others with race fitness on their side appear much better suited.
While at Randwick, a Waller runner looks way under the odds and is forced to take the step up to a genuine Saturday grade field.
Avoid both at their current short quotes in betting.
Flemington Race 1 #6 Doull $2.70
Could be vulnerable here first up, against some top shelf 3YO’s who have some runs under their belt this preparation.
No doubt he is very talented and being a 3YO colt the team will have him forward in condition.
However, there is no substitute for race fitness and this can be crucial against a quality field.
He will race on-pace but will be pressured by Alpha One and Cannonball, who both have the tactical speed to go with him early.
The market looks to have over-bet this one and look for one of the race-fit brigade to have his measure.
Avoid.
Rosehill Race 4 #5 Hameron $2.60
This is a big step up to genuine Saturday class, following a midweek grade win on the Kensington surface.
The bigger Rosehill track can find a few of these spruik horses out after they have been flattered by the smaller Kensington circuit.
He comes out of a moderately run race and on this occasion, there will be more pressure, with Fun Fact likely to lead and pour it on.
If he chooses to take on the leader there is a big chance he will puncture inside the final 200m.
And if they take the sit he’ll need clear running at some stage.
This appears to be a classic Waller hype horse who comes up an excellent risk at the current short price.
