Free Horse Racing Tips from Cody Lane
Sandown Hillside Race 3 #2 Galenus $6.00
Lightly-raced 6YO resuming for new trainer Patrick Payne (formerly with Tasmanian trainer Scott Brunton) and a winner of 7 from 15 starts.
Of those 7 wins, 4 have come first-up along with 2 placings from 7 first-up runs.
He has had two quiet jump-outs, which is not uncommon for Patrick Payne-trained horses, but closed off well enough late in each.
He will get the run of the race in this just behind the pace and will be able to peel out in the run for home.
Patrick Payne has had this horse for one run back in 2020 and was able to get him to win first-up with 60.5kg (carries 61kg in this).
Despite that being over 1200m at Cranbourne, you can put trust in Payne to get this horse up to perform fresh.
Booking of top jockey Mark Zahra is a key one and will appreciate a bit of sting out of the ground.
Well graded against this class and with even luck, should be right in the finish.

Warwick Farm Race 2 #2 Emancipist $2.50
Happy to play early into this card with this Ryan and Alexiou trained Gelding.
While he only has the one placing from his three career starts, he has been almighty unlucky in his two runs this preparation.
First up at Kembla Grange, jockey Glyn Schofield got a mile back in the run and the race was over prior to the bend.
He rocketed home with sensational sectionals to nearly nab the winner on the line Sawrey.
Second up, he was a lot more prominent in the run, however got pocketed on the bend and never saw clear running.
He was crawling all over heels and should have gone close to winning.
He will now be a peak fitness third up and gets the services of Timmy Clark. He will get this Thronum bred gelding a lot more forward to sit on the leader's back.
When the gap comes after the bend, he can rocket through for a deserving victory.

Eagle Farm Race 4 #1 Derani $4.20
Derani comes into this Class 2 on the back of four consecutive placings, where two of those efforts were behind the inform Deficit at Class 3 level.
Dropping back in distance last start, he got shuffled back to near last off a crawling tempo.
He weaved a passage between runners and went down by a neck margin.
Inform jockey Robbie Fradd, who rode a treble at the Gold Coast last Saturday, is likely to go back from gate 11 to store him up for one big finish.
This looks like a winnable assignment and he gets to be rewarded after some recent close up performances.
