08/09/21 David Gately tips & early predictions for the Caulfield Cup

With the Spring Carnival really heating up, punters will be keen to check out David Gately's early oil for some of the highlights throughout the season.

This time we look at Gator's selections and thoughts for one of the genuine Spring Carnival features - the Caulfield Cup. 

One of the majors of Australian racing, the Caulfield Cup is also the richest mile-and-a-half handicap worldwide. The endurance contest always sees some of Australia's and the world's best stayers come to the fore.

INCENTIVISE

He is simply doing extraordinary things and is still so lightly raced, so it's easy to see him measuring right up in a race like this! 

He has won his last three Queensland starts by an aggregate 30.5L despite riding strong speeds (in latest - the first section was run +11L yet he worked mid race before running 47.94 home and some 8L above class average overall).

He's in great hands with Moody, and will get in light. He's my early doubles anchor.

DUAIS

New season 4yo with the ability to sustain speed at the back-end of races. Huge in the ATC Oaks given the walking tempo then dominant in Queensland despite having gap between runs.

AMARELINHA

She was the one they backed in that ATC Oaks and she ran well with said modest tempo no help! The feeling post-race was that she was at end of her prep also. 

MASTER OF WINE

Has disappointed lately but he might be ready to bounce back (looked THE spruik horse of Autumn prior). Getting huge odds to find out.
