Media Experts tune up for Spring

Following their July success, the pro punters put in another dominant performance in August.

In fact, one pro found himself on the Profit on Turnover (POT) podium for the second month running.

There were also plenty of media experts showing exactly why tipping horses is their job.

Read on to discover all of August's top tipsters.

Best Horse Racing Tipster: Highest POT

With a mind-boggling 319% POT, pro punter Latham Anderson claimed the month's top gong.

The Sandgroper found stacks of value out west, with 8 of his 30 tips greeting the judge at a mouth-watering average price of $15.71.

The standout came on the 26th at Northam, where Anderson bagged $56 pop Marzipan Lad.

Perth Racing Tips

Anderson is also boasting a 26% POT from all his tips over the past year.

It's no wonder he's listed as a pro.

Cracking the podium for the second month running was Crow Eater Ochiltwig.

In July he secured a 66% POT to bag the bronze, but more than doubled that effort here, finishing up with a fat 161% POT.

The pro punter found no shortage of value, with his 7 winners saluting at a mind-boggling $22 average price.

There was a definite highlight, with Ochiltwig getting a hold of Craiglea Icon up at Mackay on the 10th.

The rank outsider booted home at outrageous $111.70 odds.

Perth Racing Tips

The third prize was snapped up by fellow pro punter Williamfranklin00.

An incredible effort considering this Perth local only joined the site in August.

He's exploded out of the barriers, already finding 9 winners at an average price of $11.23.

This generated a whopping 125% POT for the month.

Punters will certainly be keeping tabs on this bloke.

While he didn't enter the minimum 30 tips to qualify for the monthly competition, we've got to give Brad Davidson a wrap for his August showing.

The NSW form expert for SKY Racing jagged 7 winners from 25 tips at a ridiculous average price of $10.89.

It's rare to see media experts tip horses in this sort of price range, let alone see them get up for the win.

Davo's August tips resulted in a thumping 205% POT for his followers.

You know his September selections will be popular.

Best Horse Racing Tipster: Highest Cash Profit

Victorian punter Shadowfax grabbed the gold in the cash profit category thanks to an awesome display of tipping.

The Melbourne resident bagged 97 winners at an average price of $6.92.

This saw Shadowfax end up in the black to the tune of $13,590 from $100 win bets.

He also finished the month with a cracking 23% POT, considering he placed over 500 tips.

For punters looking for someone with a big tipping output and a proven record, it's hard to go past Shadowfax.

Shadowfax is flying

Latham Anderson added a silver to the gold he won in the POT category.

His superb combinantion of value and accuracy resulted in $9,570 in cash profit if you followed his tips with $100 bets.

After such a successful month, some punters will be doing exaclty that in September.

Also featuring on both podiums was South Australian Ochiltwig.

His 7 winners resulted in a huge $9,490 in cash profit.

After being one of July's and now August's tipsters of the month, you know Ochiltwig's September selections will be hot property.

There were plenty of star performers in the media ranks.

OzRace's part-owner and leading form analyst Chris Blackwell had a month to remember, after his tips drove a thumping 71% POT.

He nabbed 13 winners at a strike rate of 30% and a meaty average price of $5.85.

The WA form expert is always worth following for any roughies he offers up out west.

Next up is Winning Post's Tony Rickards, who's been tipping up a storm down in Melbourne.

The multi-talented form analyst bagged 14 winners at a strike rate of 40% and an average price of $4.28.

With numbers like this, it's no surprise Rickards ended up with a bumper 71% POT.

However, punters who followed Rickards' best bets were even better off.

He jagged 3 of them across the month, including $17.90 pop Viral at Caulfield.

He's one to follow through the Spring Carnival.

Winning Post Stats

Also faring well with his Melbourne tips was Herald Sun journalist and form judge Glenn McFarlane.

He tipped with phenomenal accuracy, bagging 29 winners at a 48% strike rate.

They also got home at a handy average price of $3.13, resulting in an ultra-impressive 52% POT.

McFarlane is another who punters will be finding for the Spring Carnival.

TheSultanOfSydney was firing on all cylinders in August, clocking off with a 50% POT.

The popular Twitter tipster found 29 winners at a hefty average price of $5.48.

We shouldn't be surprised, considering this marked TheSultan's fifth consecutive month in the black.

All signs suggest he'll make it six straight in September.

Sults

Last cab off the rank is popular race caller for RSN Rick McIntosh.

The voice of jumps racing in Australia showed he's no stranger to form analysis, finding 20 winners around country Victoria.

They saluted at a strike rate of 39% and an average price of $3.82, driving a 50% POT.

While the major focus will be on the Melbourne metro tracks over the coming weeks, make sure to check out what McIntosh dishes up out wide.
