With the Spring Carnival now underway, David Gately has provided his early predictions for some of the highlights throughout the season.
This week we look at Gator's selections and thoughts for the Thousand Guineas.
While the Caulfield Guineas sees some of the country's best three-year-old colts do battle over the mile at Caulfield, the Thousand Guineas is the race for the girls. It's always fascinating to see which filly stamps herself as the elite miler of her age group.
Let's see what David Gately says about the race...
Thousand Guineas tips
ARGENTIA
Beautifully related daughter of Frankel (breed improve as they go as a rule) so fancy that terrific debut win was just a bonus! Not much between many of these fillies at 2yo…. She looks to have the most upside.
FOUR MOVES AHEAD
First home of the girls in a Slipper and is adaptable, can absorb pressure and has change-up speed.
JAMAEA
Beat a good one in Crystal Bound at end of last prep and had run well to Four Moves Ahead… Acts like she will run 1600m.
CRYSTAL BOUND
Like her as talent. Fabulous debut win (eye / clock) then bloused by Jamaea at just start two. 1600m?
