Dance with Chrissie
Caulfield plays host to G3 Sir John Monash Stakes day, with the feature event coming up in race eight.
The track is currently rated a good 4 and with rain predicted on Friday and raceday, participants will be met with a soft racing surface.
The rail is true the entire circuit and at this set-up, runners will be better suited edging off the fence.
Caulfield Race 6 Tip #14 Mrs Chrissie $4.50
Excited to see the return of this Per Incanto filly, who has the scope for massive improvement in her second racing preparation.
She was a runaway debut winner at Cranbourne in her only start, putting away the field by 4.5 lengths over the 1000m.
After leading them up at a tempo that was 5 lengths quicker than the class average, she straightened up and kicked again which is no easy feat.
She ran the second fastest last 200m split of the entire meeting, and her last 400m time was bang on average for benchmark grade.
All of this was done by a filly on debut, lacking in race fitness and experience.
This signalled to the boys in town that Paul Rocke had a smart one on his hands.
She resumes in town and although a much harder race than her debut field, she looks extremely well weighted and can push across from the wide draw.
She was given a good hit out in a Mornington 900m jump out recently, where she ran 2nd and beat city-performer Bless Her in the process.
Although I was hoping for a better price, there is a chance she could drift being from a relatively unknown stable and with other city horses in the race.
Caulfield Race 9 Tip #5 Tavidance $13.00
Really excited about the price on offer about Tavidance here in the last, who comes off a very solid 2nd when resuming at Flemington last start.
He was only beaten under half a length behind Biometric in that Open Hcp, and only lost in the final few strides of the race.
After settling last on an even tempo, he reeled off some huge sectionals to finish as close as he did on the line.
His last 600m sectional was 3 lengths quicker than Open Hcp average, and his last 400m and 200m were 2 lengths quicker than average.
He returns second up and only carries 54kg after the claim.
He is a previous second-up winner and at this same time of preparation last campaign, ran 2nd in a Listed Kilmore Cup over the mile.
Fitter here, drawn well, and finds a very winnable race.
I was susprised to see him at the double figure mark and I think he is a great each-way bet at this price.
