Drum roll please

You well and truly are missing out on weekly fill-ups if you aren't following in gun pro tipster Nic Ashman.

Last week we mentioned Nic had made over $12,000 profit over the last 90 days and he added to that total by nailing the winner of the QLD Derby at $13 (when tipped).

Read on to see which horses he thinks are the main chances in this year's Stradbroke Handicap.

Nic Ashman Tips

Group 1 - Stradbroke Handicap (1400m)

The jewel in the crown of Queensland racing is the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap and NSW looks to have a stranglehold on the 3 million dollar contest.

Current favourite Think About It is shooting for his 7th straight win and has only tasted defeat once in 9 career starts.

Joe Pride’s gelding has been a revelation in 2023 and the Warwick Farm horseman says he wouldn’t swap his chance for anything.

Think About It’s biggest danger is likely to be fellow NSW challenger Hawaii Five Oh.

A well-bred colt owned by John Singleton and trained by Gai Waterhouse.

He’s won his past two starts at stakes level and drops to 49.5kg, a proven formula for Stradbroke success.

Let’s take a look at the Key Factors of this year’s edition

History

History has favoured the interstate raiders over the past few years.

Four of the last five winners have been from out of QLD.

You also want a light weight profile to stand a chance.

Show A Heart in 2002 is the last horse to carry more than 55.5kg to victory

Oaks

Trackwalker Info

Lanes 1,2,3 all appear somewhat inferior and we are expecting the bulk of the winners to come from Lanes 4+

The Sweet Spot is around Lane 12, the two or three Lanes on either side of this mark appear the best ground, but getting there will be the issue.

Look for big fields, genuine tempo and strong midfield runners.

Then find a backmarker that can latch onto the back of a horse and get taken out to these Golden Lanes.

Good luck with that!

Speed Map

The map suggests the tempo could be lightning.

Pace drawn wide, middle and low should ensure this is no crawl.

Nic's package includes exclusive speed maps, staking plan, rated runners and more in an easy-to-digest format.

#1 Hawaii Five Oh

His ratings are on an upwards spiral and are pretty close to what Think About It has been posting in what looks harder races on paper.

Factor in that he drops to 49.5kg and he’s $6 and you have to be on him at the price.

Marked him $4.75.

#2 Think About It

Nothing between him and Hawaii Five Oh but we’re being asked to take $3.20 about him and that looks a tad short.

He should park on the back of a horse in the running line, which looks like the perfect place for him.

Impossible to knock the form, just the price seems short.

#3 Cardinal Gem + Gentlemen Roy

Cardinal Gem is that horse who could find the back of Think About It and get dragged into the race.

Our Trackwalker Info is adamant that you'll have an advantage if you can get to around Lane 12.

Gentlemen Roy was ridden quietly last start but is a far better conveyance when ridden aggressively.

I don’t mind the mountains of pace engaged because he runs his best ratings when he goes fast in front.
