Trainers to Follow
Topping the charts for winning strike rates at Flemington this week is Maddie Raymond.
Raymond has been good to follow for punters with the trainer from Warrnambool throughout her career and the same goes at Headquarters with a winning strike rate of 16.7% and 52.8% POT.
Raymond has just one runner on the program with ‘Rolls’ ($15) going around in race 3.
Another trainer who holds a solid winning strike rate at Flemington is Enver Jusufovic.
Jusufovic has a 16.1% winning strike rate at Headquarters with a slightly positive profit on turnover of 12.2%.
Like Raymond, the trainer from Cranbourne (Jusufovic) has just one runner on the Flemington program with ‘Miss Jennifer’ ($61) going around in race 5.
Looking at trainers in top recent form and there is no one you can look further than Clinton McDonald right now.
McDonald has had an impressive 24 winners from his last 100 runners (including 5 from his last 18).
McDonald also has just the one runner on the program at Headquarters with ‘Demon Blood’ going around in race 4 at a huge price of $41.
Another trainer who has featured in this article many times before is Lindsey Smith.
Smith has had 22 winners from his past 100 runners (including 8 from his last 30).
Luke the other trainers before him in this article, Smith also has just the one runner on Saturday at Flemington with former NZ runner ‘Bitcoin’ going around in race 8 at a handy price of $14.
Last but certainly not least, the training duo of Ben & JD Hayes, who have featured heavily across the last number of weeks, features again this week.
The Hayes duo have had 20 winners from their last 100 runners and will look to continue building that record through their five runners on the program at Flemington.
Those five runners are ‘Boonie’ ($7) in race 1, ‘Port Guillaume’ ($26) in race 3, ‘Monarch Of Egypt ($4.60) in race 6, ‘Crosshaven’ ($6) also in race 6 and an interesting runner having its first run in its third country off the back of two and a half years off in ‘The Summit’ ($12) in race 8.
Some very handy prices amongst the runners of those weeks' trainers to follow!
Jockeys to Follow
As he has done for a while now, apprentice jockey Matthew Cartwright remains atop the standings for winning strike rate at Flemington with 12.1%.
Cartwright has a near full book of rides with the gun apprentice only being absent of riding in the opening race of the program.
The pick of Cartwright’s rides look to be ‘Zac De Boss’ ($6) in race 4, ‘Riddle Me That’ ($10) in race 6, ‘Beehunter’ ($19) in race 7 and ‘So Sleek’ ($16) in race 8.
Billy Egan has not only been in solid recent form (16 winners from his last 100 rides), but also goes well at Flemington (11.9% winning strike rate), making him very much a jockey to follow for the meeting.
Egan has six rides on the program with a ride in each race except races 1,3&4.
The pick of Egan’s rides look to be ‘The Hindustan’ ($21) in race 2, ‘Seonee’ ($7) in race 5, ‘Wicklow Town’ ($14) in race 6 and ‘Big Watch’ ($13) in race 9.
When looking at the recent form of jockeys riding at the Flemington meeting, you can’t look any further than John Allen.
Allen has been riding very well with 19 winners from his last 100 rides and will look to continue building on that record with his two rides on the program.
Allen takes the sit on ‘Junipal’ ($12) in race 6 and ‘Ain’t He Grand’ ($17) in race 8.
Look to be two very good bets to have on the program!
The final jockey who is well worth following at the Flemington meeting also has the last name of Allen.
Ben Allen is back riding in top form (18 winners from his last 1pp rides) and has four rides on the Flemington program to continue building on that handy record.
Allen jumps on the backs of ‘Capper Thirtynine’ ($17) in race 2, ‘Megamea’ ($23) in race 5, ‘Green Fly’ ($11) in race 7 and ‘Cause For Concern’ ($18) in race 9.
Very rare you see all double-figure chances about the rides of the jockeys in the best recent form at a meeting. Well worth a good on those 6 rides!
