Morphettville Tips for The Goodwood 10/5/25

South Australia’s showpiece sprint, the Group 1 Goodwood, takes centre stage at Morphettville this Saturday.

The Clayton Douglas-trained superstar Giga Kick is a deserved favourite and truthfully, his presence elevates what is otherwise a Group 3-standard field.

That said Heath Pope isn’t one to back $2.00 pops in a field of 16, especially with value lurking outside the obvious.

He’s identified two key runners at big odds, both of whom bring x-factor and strong closing credentials into a race that may set up for something from off-speed.

The WA formline might be unorthodox, but it certainly stacks up.

This mare loomed to win the Quokka last start before being edged out late, and now she drops a crucial 4kg for this assignment.

Draws a nice gate to settle closer than usual and the Simon Miller camp wouldn’t make the trip unless they thought she was up to it.

Her closing figures suggest she is.

With clear air and the right tempo, she can be in the finish at juicy odds.
