Horse Racing Tips for Sandown 24/5/25

Mick's Sandown Special

Melbourne racing heads to the expansive Sandown Hillside track this Saturday, where the long straight and rolling layout often reward horses who can balance up and unleash late.

With some rain forecast in the lead-up the track is expected to race in the Soft range, which should suit strong-finishing gallopers.

Michael Manley has identified one such runner who looks perfectly suited to the set-up and ready to go one better after a narrow defeat last time out.

You can grab his full set for racing this Saturday below.

Race 6 #11 Saban $4.20

Saban gets his chance to bounce back after a luckless second at Caulfield last start, where he proved difficult to ride late and shifted in noticeably, likely costing himself the win.

He may have hit the front a touch too early, but the run was full of merit.

Luke Cartwright retains the ride and his 3kg claim sees Saban come in with just 50kg, giving him a big weight edge.

With strong speed expected up front, Cartwright can afford to be patient letting Saban settle and build momentum before launching down the roomy Sandown straight.

A proven performer on rain-affected ground, he looks ideally placed to strike.
