Race 3 – #5 Acheson $18

Punters are getting a big price about this son of Churchill, who boasts a perfect 2 from 2 record on heavy tracks and clearly produces his best on rain-affected going.

While drawn wide, that may actually prove an advantage.

The last time Randwick was set up similarly with all winners coming down the outside lanes, particularly beyond lane 10 from the 200m mark.

With early speed and just 54kg, Acheson should land on-pace and be the first to strike in the better going.

He may not be the classiest in the race, but the conditions and map heavily favour him.

A high-upside play at generous odds.

Race 4 – #11 Rotagilla $9.50

Rotagilla is deep into his prep and arrives here rock-hard fit for his sixth run this campaign.

He was a strong last-start winner over this distance on a heavy surface, which is a major tick given Saturday’s likely conditions.

The 2kg claim for Zac Waddick brings him in at just 54kg, and from barrier 6, he maps to land forward of midfield in a great position.

If he can replicate his last effort, he’ll be very hard to hold out in this grade.
