Trainers to Follow
We kick things off this week with a Geelong-based trainer by the name of Carly Cook.
Cook has had 4 runners at Sandown Hillside for 2 winners and a whopping 1161.6% Profit on Turnover (POT)!
One of those winners was stable star ‘Pintoff’ and the 6YO gelding is her sole runner on the Sandown program in race 6 and is currently paying $19.
The second of the trainers to follow this week is John Leek Jnr.
Leek Jnr has solid recent form with 15 winners from his last 100 runners at 58.9% POT. He also has a terrific 28.6% winning strike rate over his career.
Leek Jnr has just the two runners on the program with ‘Frigid’ ($10) in race 3 and ‘Secret Plan’ ($10).
Well worth backing both of those runners!
The trainers with the best stats in both recent form and at the track, is the training combination David Brideoake and Matt Jenkins.
The duo have had 11 winners from 54 runners as a partnership, winning at 20.4% and with a 50.6% POT. They also boast a 25% winning strike rate at Sandown Hillside yielding at 169.7% POT.
Brideoake & Jenkins have just the one runner on the program, with ‘End Journey’ looking to make it three-straight-wins to start her career and is a $6 chance to do so.
No stable is in better form than Ben and JD Hayes right now.
The pair have an impressive 26 winners from their last 100 runners including 6 winners from their last 12 runners!
They have 3 horses running around with ‘Sandy Prince’ ($7.50) in race 4, ‘Monarch Of Egypt’ ($19) in race 7 and ‘Conqueror’ ($19) in race 8.
The final trainer to note has featured in this coloumn for a number of weeks now, Grahame Begg.
Begg has maintained a top strike rate with his recent runners and currently has 25 winners from his last 100.
Begg also has a 16.7% winning strike rate at the track and is a trainer you will want to be backing this meeting.
He has 4 runners on the Sandown program with ‘Rivaport’ ($8.50) in race 3, ‘Scantoon’ ($11) in race 4, ‘Katsu’ ($1.85) and ‘British Columbia’ ($6) in race 8.
Jockeys to Follow
John Allen is the top jockey to follow this Saturday at the Sandown Hillside meeting.
Allen tops the standings for recent form amongst jockeys riding at this meeting, with 21 winners from his last 100 rides.
Allen also has a solid record at Sandown with a 13.7% winning strike rate, which is 3rd amongst jockeys riding on the day.
John has just the 4 rides on the program, with ‘Links’ ($13) in race 1, ‘Pintoff’ ($19) in race 6, ‘Home Rule’ ($7) in race 7 and Warrnambool Cup winner ‘Rolls’ ($19) in race 9.
Another Allen is in top form, with Ben Allen having notched up 20 winners from his last 100 rides.
Ben has 5 rides on the Sandown program, with ‘Austmarr’ ($11) in race 1, ‘Vitruvius’ ($12) in race 4, ‘Megamea’ ($13) in race 7, ‘Green Fly’ ($6) in race 8 and ‘Pinstriped’ ($4) in race 9.
The final two jockeys who are well worth following have almost identical stats.
Linda Meech and Celine Gaudray both have 17 winners from their last 100 runners and have a 14% winning strike rate at Sandown Hillside. This ranks them amongst the top 3 jockeys riding at the meeting.
Meech has 4 rides on the program with ‘Axzelina’ ($9) in race 1, ‘Simeon’ ($7.50) in race 5, ‘Invincible Caviar’ ($4) in race 6 and ‘Heart Of Puissance’ ($61) in race 9.
Meanwhile, Gaudray has a near full book of rides.
The pick of Guadray’s chances look to be ‘Flying On A Limb’ ($13) in race 2, ‘Belle Savoir’ ($3.80) in race 3, ‘Sandy Prince’ ($7.50) in race 4 and ‘Deepstrike’ ($34) in race 9.
Plenty of good value amongst the rides for these jockeys to follow this week!
