We head to Gosford for their special standalone Saturday meeting of the year.
Headlined by the Takeover Target and The Coast, these two features will have punters steaming to the track.
The rail has been placed in the true position for the entire circuit and participants will be racing on a Soft / Heavy surface.
Returning to the true position it will be no surprise to see all runners edge off the rail, especially as the day progresses.
Gosford Tip from Dean Watling
Gosford Race 10 #8 Battleton $2.80
He rounded out last preparation with a very smart run in the Group 1 Coolmore stakes.
We have seen 10 metro winners come out of that race, including the G1 winner Home Affairs. That’s a great form line.
He also had form around Mazu that reads well.
He has been gelded into this prep. His trials have given every indication it has worked the trick and sharped him right up.
I particularly liked his latest where he extended away under some light riding to win well.
He has drawn well in gate 9 and will land a handy spot in the run.
He is a very progressive horse. Follow this campaign.
Gosford Tip from Luke Hovhanesian
Gosford Race 8 #10 Mystic Shot $7.50
Love the profile this 4YO mare brings to this event.
Before her first-up run, she trialled brilliantly winning two on the bounce.
The first of those trials was at Gosford, where trainer Grant Allard is based.
She then had two solid runs at Randwick with the last being at Group 2 level.
She now drops in grade to contest the Listed Takeover Target.
In these big Listed events at provincial tracks, knowing the course well can be the difference between winning and losing.
From the 1200m shute start at Gosford there is a long straight before the first bend. This gives all horses an equal chance to find their racing position.
From barrier 5, Jockey Mitchell Bell will have no issues with slotting Majestic Shot into a lovely position midfield with cover.
However, the key difference is the long and sharp bend prior to the short straight, and often visitors can get lost around it.
With his familiarity to the track, Majestic Shot can make his move prior to the bend, circling the field in a flash.
He can then let down with his blistering turn of foot to put this field away.
Looks like a great each-way bet at the current quote.
