Sandown Best Bets
Sandown plays host to a stand alone Saturday meeting, to be conducted on the Hillside circuit.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with some rain predicted, participants will be met with a soft racing surface.
The rail is true the entire circuit and at this set-up, expect horses to be better suited away from the fence.
Sandown Hillside Race 1 Tip #5 Hell Hound $2.40
This Price and Kent Jnr filly was exceptional on debut at Terang, destroying her opposition over the 1000m.
Although that venue may not sound exciting, the style in which she won the race definitely was.
She sat back off a strong tempo, followed by letting down extremely well with the fastest last 200m split of the day, and her last 600m was 8 lengths quicker than average.
She even gave the track record a very close nudge, indicating that what we saw to the eye was definitely backed up on the clock.
Second up here, she sticks to 1000m and will be improved for the race experience.
Drawn comfortably in barrier five, she can park midfield with cover and appreciate another strong tempo set up.
Beau Mertens retains the ride, and she looks a very progressive type who should have no issue making it two from two.
Sandown Hillside Race 5 Tip #10 Jayanthi $6.50
Very surprised about the price being offered up about this horse.
She has gone excellent in two career starts to date which includes a last start victory.
She was a short favourite and won like one too at Ballarat, putting away Yagoona by 1.5 lengths who has since been placed at Pakenham on Thursday.
After enjoying a good run in behind the speed, she put them away with a meeting fastest 400-200m split, and then backed that up with the fourth fastest last 200m of the entire day.
She looks a filly with above average ability and now finds her way into a very winnable BM70 against her own age.
Clearly a horse who handles wet tracks, showcased by not only her last start win on a soft 5, but a debut second place on a heavy 8 beaten only half a length.
The wide draw will suit as she can find better going out wide. I have her priced near favourite in this market so I'm keen to bet up at this price.
