Command The Field
Caulfield plays host to a strong Saturday of racing, with big competitive fields the theme of the afternoon.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with fine weather predicted, participants will be met with a perfect racing surface.
The rail is true the entire circuit, at this set-up, the track should play perfectly, with maybe a slight advantage to horses above midfield.
Caulfield Race 2 Tip #4 Commander Harry $5.50
I have been impressed with the way this Busuttin & Young galloper has returned this prep.
He was only beaten 3.5 lengths fresh in a Handicap race at Flemington over an unsuitable 1400m. The formlines are strong out of that race with the 4th placed Daises since winning.
He went to the mile at Mornington last time out and settled near last in the run.
He wasn't aided by the slow tempo, placing him in a hard winning position.
His wide run commenced well before the turn and he ran on very well, missing by under a length.
His late sectionals were very good, running his last 400m 3.5 lengths quicker than benchmark standard time.
Third up, and now out to 2000m, he is primed to put in a preparation peak performance.
He was narrowly beaten by Forgot You in the G2 Vase over 2040m last prep, and contested a G1 VIC Derby over 2500m.
55kg in this BM84 makes him extremely well weighted, and he maps very nicely from the barrier as well.
Keen on him here, and will be saving on Deepstrike who was a very dominant last start winner over 1800m.
Caulfield Race 7 Tip #3 Belle Savoir $3.50
This Nick Ryan filly is looking to remain undefeated, after a very strong first up win.
She was a year off the scene into the Sandown win last start and looked to have not missed a beat at all.
Settling midfield off a slow tempo, she ran the meeting's fastest last 200m to score well.
Her last 600m sectional was 9 lengths quicker than benchmark average, and her last 400m was 8 lengths faster as well.
Love that she gets into this competitive fillies handicap with only 54.5kg, and the Ryan stable is flying at the moment with an abundance of winners.
Well drawn from barrier six to sit midfield again with cover and will appreciate the Caulfield circuit as well.
Thought she looked a very good bet here and can definitely keep her winning streak in tact.
