Broadsiding Bulletproof
The three-year-olds go head-to-head in a tactical mile contest, where race shape and tempo will be key in determining the outcome.
The big question leading into this race: Can Broadsiding make this look easy?
The high-class Godolphin colt has been simply dominant, annihilating his rivals first-up in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes over 1400m.
He gets in at set weights, draws perfectly, is unbeaten at Randwick and is already on the $8.00 second line of betting for next month’s Group 1 Doncaster Mile.
So is there a genuine danger or is this a one-horse affair?

Randwick Guineas 2025 Tips and Best Bets
Track Conditions:
With intermittent rain in the 48 hours leading up to the race, expect a Soft 5 surface—a major advantage for Broadsiding, who boasts an unbeaten record on rain-affected ground (4:4-0-0).
The early pattern should be fair, but as the day progresses, expect runners peeling off the rail to find the better going three to four lanes wide in the home straight.
The Speed Map:
With no natural leader engaged, expect this to be a tactically run race.
- Firm Agreement should roll to the front from the inside barrier, dictating a moderate tempo.
- Broadsiding will land in the perfect stalking position, one-off the fence just a couple of lengths behind the leader.
- Aeliana was strong late in the Hobartville and will settle midfield in the third pair, directly behind Broadsiding.
- Swiftfalcon who stormed home in the Hobartville will drift back towards the rear, likely settling behind Linebacker who is third-up and improving.
- Depth of Character and Our Benefactor will also settle in the second half, needing a genuine tempo to feature late.
The lack of early speed could work against backmarkers like Swiftfalcon, as it won’t provide them with the necessary platform to launch a winning run.
The Favourite: Broadsiding
Broadsiding is all class, and the race maps perfectly for him.
His Hobartville win was dominant, showcasing his ability to travel on speed and still explode off a slow pace.
He is versatile, strong and proven at this level.
With J-Mac on board, he could be off and gone by the 400m mark.
The slight cut in the track only enhances his chances further, making him incredibly hard to beat.

Neil’s Best Bet:
Broadsiding ($1.80) is simply too good for these unless he strikes interference or bad luck.
This looks to be a perfect lead-up into bigger autumn targets, and he should put this race away with authority.
The Dangers:
- Aeliana ($7.50) presents the most realistic danger. She hit a flat spot before the turn in the Hobartville but charged home late. With cover in the run and extra fitness second-up, she will be much stronger at 1600m and is well treated being the only filly in the race.
- Swiftfalcon ($5.00) has undeniable talent and will be flying home late, but the lack of tempo doesn’t play to his strengths. He’s a better betting proposition third-up over further.
- Linebacker ($12.00) is consistent and improving, but lacks the class of Broadsiding and will need a career peak to feature in the finish.
Neil’s Top Four:
- BROADSIDING
- Aeliana
- Swiftfalcon
- Linebacker
