Neasham's Law
Randwick hosts a cracking day of racing with two Group 1's on the card, the Randwick Guineas and the Canterbury Stakes.
Punters have a cracking 10-race meeting to dive into, with 7 Group races on the card.
Track Conditions
The surface at Randwick is currently rated a Heavy 10. The rail is out 6m from the 1000m to the winning post and 3m the remainder.
How the track will play is anyone's guess. If there is rain on the day, jockey's will be looking for the outside rail.
Randwick Race 7 - Canterbury Stakes 1300m (Group 1)
The Map
- Zaaki (1) & Kolding (2) are both likely to be scratched, leaving Forbidden Love (7) our nominated leader.
- I suspect Tommy Berry will use the good draw on Law Of Indicies (4) to be positive, while Lighthouse (2) will go forward to sit leaders back.
- Of the other favoured runners, Private Eye (6) will settle last and will be attempting to swoop late.
The Early Favourite - Forbidden Love ($3.80)
Coming off a 7-day back-up, she profiles very well for this.
We know she handles the rain affected going and enjoys a 1kg relief from last week.
The chink in her armour may be dropping back to 1300m, third up.
Deserved favourite off what she did last week.
Best Racing Tips
Law Of Indicies is a proper race horse, with enormous upside.
His two Australian runs have been full of merit and he finally draws a good barrier.
He handled rain affected going in Europe and trainer Annabel Neasham suggested early this week that he should handle it on Saturday.
From barrier 4, I expect Tommy Berry to ride positively and hold an on-pace position.
He has a strong finish and if Tommy has him within striking distance at the turn, watch out!
Forbidden Love in for second for reasons mentioned above. I've settled on Lighthouse for third, who produced a huge figure on a Heavy tack at her Australian debut.
She's drawn ideally and is likely to get the services of James McDonald if Zaaki is scratched.

Randwick Race 8 - Randwick Guineas 1600m (Group 1)
The Map
- Military Expert (13) looks likely to spear across from out wide.
- The Waller pair of Ranch Hand (1) and Sword Point (3) will use their good draws to hold a forward position in the run.
- Short priced favourite Anamoe (9) has tactical speed if needed and looks set to land midfield with cover.
The Favourite - Anamoe ($2.00)
Last week we mentioned that Espiona was not a good bet as a $2 favourite.
This week it's a different story as Anamoe looks a great bet at this set up.
He's the best horse in the race. The longer distance will suit and a testing Randwick Mile is right up his ally.
J-Mac gets back on and he looks the good thing of the day!
Best Racing Tips
Anamoe produced a huge second placing in the Cox Plate and arguably should have won the race on protest.
He's genuine line finder of the highest order and is set to peak third up.
He's never run on a Heavy, but a horse of his talent with two runs under his belt will stand up when it's counted.
War Eternal looks a great place bet in what is a wide open race excluding the favourite.
He loves the rain affected track and is in career best form. From the soft draw, he'll sit on-speed and can easily run top 3.
Hilal's last start 2nd to Anamoe was elite, but I do worry about his ability to produce back to back peak runs. His last start was a career peak and by a big margin. It wouldn't surprise me to see him regress off that run on Saturday.
