Gold Rush
Bendigo plays host to their feature meeting of the calendar year, with a stacked nine event card including the Listed Bendigo Guineas and Golden Mile.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with overcast conditions but no rain, participants will be met with a good racing surface.
The rail is positioned true for the entire circuit and at this set-up, you can expect the track to play fairly.
Bendigo Race 7 Tip #3 Gundec $5.50
With a large percentage of the market being taken up by Cardigan Queen here, Gundec has slipped under the guard of a few.
This Symon Wilde trained colt was super impressive when winning first-up at Geelong off the back of a Group 1 Victoria Derby campaign.
He put the field away under very minimal effort, after sitting outside the lead and running the second quickest last 200m of the entire meeting.
It was very strong on the clock, and was surely a massive confidence booster for a horse who has a lot of talent.
Second up now and getting out to 1400m for this middle distance horse is a positive move.
He has drawn very well from barrier four to sit handy to the speed throughout, and is well weighted with 59kg in this Listed level.
A Flemington winner last prep at this stage when second-up, he'll give this race a real crack and looks value at the current quote.
Bendigo Race 9 Tip #10 Second Slip $6.50
I'm very keen on the Adelaide visitor Second Slip for the Will Clarken team, who is second up and looks primed to return to the winner's stall.
He led the field up in the Listed Matrice Stakes at Morphettville when resuming, and was only beaten 2L by stablemate Ironclad who looks set to line up in the Doncaster Mile.
His second up record is extremely strong, having won three from four and a third placing in there as well.
A multiple winner in Victoria including a strong Flemington handicap race, he was even far from disgraced behind I'm Thunderstruck in a Toorak Handicap.
He's perfectly drawn in barrier three to control the race up on speed, and the 2kg claim for Matt Cartwright brings him down to 55kg meaning he is exceptionally weighted.
Reports from the camp are that he is flying after his first-up effort, and actually beat Ironclad under a hold in an exhibition gallop last weekend.
With the firm track to his liking, all signs are pointing to a massive run here for Second Slip.
