Horse Racing tips from Michael Gannon
Newcastle is the venue for racing in NSW on Monday afternoon, as we head to the harbour city for a competitive seven race card.
Racing will be on the inner Beaumont track, which is currently rated a Soft 5 with fine weather forecast throughout the day.
The rail is out 3m for the entire circuit, so punters can expect a fair racing surface with all horses getting their chance.
Jockey watch
Christian Reith is the jockey to watch on the Beaumont track.
Reith has ridden 2 winners from 5 rides over the last 12 months at an impressive 40% strike rate.
The gun hoop has 3 mounts today, with his best chance coming in Race 2 aboard Pirrama for Adam Duggan.

Newcastle Race 4 Tip #6 Texan Windstorm $3.80
This gelding by No Nay Never impressed at the trials, before running a gallant fourth on debut.
After beginning awkwardly from barrier 12, he was restrained near last and looked to be travelling on the home turn.
Jockey Billy Cray elected to head back underneath runners for clear air, at which point this galloper produced a strong run to the line.
He raced greenly down the straight, but will no doubt take a stack of experience from his debut run.
The in-form Sam Clipperton takes the ride, which is a huge plus for connections. Not only does the galloper gain the services of a gun jockey, but he draws barrier one today which will allow him to sit closer in the run.
With natural improvement and the positive form factors, I expect Texan Windstorm to go to another level today.
