David Gately Best Bets
All ratings for Moonee Valley are for a Good track, with the rail in the True position.
At the last meeting with the rail out 5m, run-on horses could win if the tempo suited, so a fair surface is expected again.
For Randwick, ratings are also for a Good track, with the rail returning to the True position.
On Boxing Day, with the rail out 6m and strong winds, no distinct pattern was evident up to race 7.
The prior meeting at 3m also displayed no pattern, so we can anticipate an even track.

Bet of the Day (Melbourne)
Moonee Valley – Race 9 No.3 – Ain’tnodeeldun
Ain’tnodeeldun looks well-placed here.
He was excellent second-up, finishing on the heels of Globe and Light Infantry Man, both of whom have since won Group races.
Rain on the day didn’t help his chances, yet he performed admirably.
After a month off, he contested the Ballarat Cup and kept closing late, suggesting he’s holding his form well.
He’s a Group 3 winner at this track and distance and boasts an unbeaten record at Moonee Valley (3 for 3).
On a fair track, he looks the one to beat.
Bet of the Day (Sydney)
Randwick – Race 1 No.6 – Memo
Memo turned in an excellent performance first-up at Wyong in the Magic Millions, where she was taken back from a wide gate, badly held up, and then flew home when clear.
She meets the winner from that race 1.5kg better here and should have beaten her on that occasion with better luck.
With natural improvement and a more favourable setup at Randwick, Memo is poised to turn the tables and looks a strong winning chance.
