Tuncurry Race 3 #1 Defiant Heart $4.40
This son of Shamus Award looks set to make it career win number two today when he lines up over the 1000m.
His first-up victory two runs back came on a Heavy 8 at Gosford over the 1100m and if he runs up to that, they'll struggle to catch him.
He was freshened after that run before finishing 4th behind Surooj and the consistent Miss Kojiki over the 1100m at Scone.
His first-up record (3:1-1-0) suggests to me that he'll be ready to fire today and although he hasn't trialled, the shorter 1000m trip won't pose a fitness issue.
He handles all conditions and with Christian Reith aboard once again, I expect him to sit leader back in the run before peeling off heels and putting them away late in the piece.
Tuncurry Race 5 #15 Sea Legend $4.20
It's great to see early market support for the son of Ocean Park.
His debut win came at this venue on a Heavy track, so we know he'll handle the conditions.
His last start 10th at Newcastle was far better than it reads and with even luck, he would have finished much closer to the winner.
The step up to 1600m is ideal, as is the rain affected surface.
Christian Reith takes the ride and from barrier 10, I expect to see him sit 3-4 pairs back in the running line before flying down the outside on the home straight.
