Dicko's Wil to win
The last day of the card is here! What a week it’s been.
Another Wil got us off to a grand start, but unfortunately, Kallos didn’t deliver.
The horse did pull up with EIPH in the post-race report, but it was still a disappointing way to begin Oaks Day.
The good news? We get to do it all again this Saturday!
Track Pattern
At HQ on Saturday the rail is out 8m, which should favour horses with on-pace advantage.
I’ll be keen to back runners who settle forward of midfield, but with it being the last day of the carnival, keep an eye on the track and be ready to pivot if needed!
Now onto this week’s bet and we’re going back to the well.
Flemington Best Bet and Tips from Jack Dickens
Jack continues to nail his best bets at a good rate!
Flemington Race 7 #6 Another Wil $10.00
Firstly, why wouldn’t we?
I think the early price went up at $16.00, so anyone who managed to grab that has done some fantastic shopping.
But even at $6 and up, I still think it’s a solid bet.
It’s undeniably a hot race with some exceptionally talented runners, but we’ve got several factors working in our favour:
- Fatigue Factor: Some competitors are coming off a grueling Cox Plate, so they may be flat. Antino has had a few slow starts, and there’s another group of horses coming off a fast-paced run in the Empire Rose. I’m happy to take a different angle here, and here’s why:
Key Points:
- Perfect Run: Another Wil should settle right behind the speed of Pride Of Jenni, with possibly Desert Lightning if they hold pace and maybe Mr Brightside, who’s in blinkers for the first time. With not too much speed on paper, he’s set for an ideal trip.
- Quick Backup: Not having raced in a brutal Cox Plate should mean Another Wil is fresh and primed for this contest.
- Hungry Jockey: Bates isn’t riding Jenni here, and he’ll be out to prove a point.
- Finishing Ability: Did you see Another Wil’s last run? Despite being held up at a crucial stage, he finished strongly, posting the fourth-fastest last 200m of the meeting.
