Caulfield Best from Dicko
Caulfield this Saturday with the Spring Carnival rolling on!
We’ve got Keats contesting the Victorian Country Cup Final, and with Jamie Kah aboard, we’re hopeful for a strong showing.
Before diving into the tips, let’s take a look at the track conditions.
With the rail out 6m at Caulfield, horses settling towards the back are likely to be disadvantaged.
We’ll want to target horses positioned midfield or closer to the pace.
I’ve already shared one tip on The Great Tip Off YouTube channel, so be sure to check that out if you haven’t.

Caulfield Race 4 #3 Pisces
The Blue Sapphire Stakes over 1400m is the race to focus on for the weekend. Here’s why Pisces looks like a strong bet:
-
Barrier Switch: Moving from barrier 7 to barrier 1 is a big advantage. Last start, Pisces was forced to settle back due to the wide draw, with speedier runners drawn inside. With barrier 1, he’s set to hold a midfield position at worst, thanks to this tactical switch.
-
Map: With the inside draw and James McDonald riding, we can expect Pisces to settle at least midfield, ideally closer to the leaders, avoiding the need to make up too much ground late.
-
Up in Distance: At Moonee Valley, on a firm track with fast early speed, Pisces recorded the sixth-fastest last 1000m of the day, weaving through traffic, and once in clear space, the fifth-fastest last 400m. The step up to 1400m should suit him well.
-
Jockey & Trainer Combo: The Godolphin team of James McDonald and James Cummings boasts a 27% win strike rate over their last 100 runners, an impressive stat that’s hard to ignore.
