A competitive and intriguing eight-race card greets punters tonight at Menangle.
Here are my three main plays for the night's action.
Menangle Race 3 #5 Gliding Away $7.50
I think Gliding Away (5) is the class horse here.
Placing in 18 out of 19 starts this season, the McDowell-trained pacer is never far away and will find this easier than what he faced here a fortnight ago.
Tactics over the longer distance of 2300m will be all-important but the price looks generous.
Menangle Race 5 #5 Hes Charming $3.20
Hes Chiming (5) can bounce back tonight.
While his form did taper off in recent months before a break, a trial at Bathurst earlier this week was sublime and he's looking back to his best.
I don't think this is an overly strong field and if this seven-year-old can perform to his best, he should be winning.
Menangle Race 6 #3 Stingray Tara $2.50
I'm happy to be with Stingray Tara (3) in the fast-class event.
Despite some of the state's best horses down in Victoria for the Inter Dominion, tonight's Group 3 has assembled a very strong field.
I think Stingray Tara would have been quite competitive in the ID series had the camp travelled him down, therefore with a handy draw here I think he is the one all rivals have to beat.
